Skyler went on a hike to Mt. Humphrey's on Friday with his scout troupe. They spent the night at the base of the mountain, he only called us once because he was cold and we just told him to put on more clothes. He made it throughout the night, and this morning they started up the mountain. It is about a 4.8 mile hike both ways. However, it has switchbacks and is fairly steep clear to the top. He was doing really well until they were about 3 miles up and he fell and had 2 asthma attacks. Thank goodness he had an inhaler in his backpack! His heart rate was really high and so his scout leader, who is also a doctor, made him stay where he was until they came back down from the top. Sky was pretty disappointed because he had made it so far, but knew his limitations. He stayed there for about 2 hours by himself. He said it was really hot and there were flies all around him. Not a whole lot of fun for him, but I'm just so proud of him for what he accomplished because he didn't think he could do it. He has 2 more hikes this summer that are supposed to be pretty easy.
Love ya Skyler, glad you stuck with it!!!

I'm glad he had his inhaler too. That would have been a little scary. Three miles is alot! Way to go Skyler!!

Thanks for the G-pa Holden comment..they loved giving out the Halloween candy! He still eats a huge Snickers bar everyday:-}
Tell Skyler that Aunt Kandra couldn't even hike .5 mile. I've turned into a wimp. We're glad he packed the inhaler! See ya soon.
