Skyler's Hike

Skyler went on a hike to Mt. Humphrey's on Friday with his scout troupe. They spent the night at the base of the mountain, he only called us once because he was cold and we just told him to put on more clothes. He made it throughout the night, and this morning they started up the mountain. It is about a 4.8 mile hike both ways. However, it has switchbacks and is fairly steep clear to the top. He was doing really well until they were about 3 miles up and he fell and had 2 asthma attacks. Thank goodness he had an inhaler in his backpack! His heart rate was really high and so his scout leader, who is also a doctor, made him stay where he was until they came back down from the top. Sky was pretty disappointed because he had made it so far, but knew his limitations. He stayed there for about 2 hours by himself. He said it was really hot and there were flies all around him. Not a whole lot of fun for him, but I'm just so proud of him for what he accomplished because he didn't think he could do it. He has 2 more hikes this summer that are supposed to be pretty easy.
Love ya Skyler, glad you stuck with it!!!

Hunter's All Star Team

I'm sorry that my posts are so far in between, but life sure gets busy in the Summer's here. We just returned from Hunter's All Star game in Flagstaff. He is in the 10-11 year old league. We played Winslow first and beat them 11-9. It was a very exciting game. Hunter played center field. He can play any position, which is very helpful. We then played Flagstaff, who 10 run ruled the team they played the night before, and were doing really well. It was a back and forth game until the fourth inning, Flagstaff scored 5 runs and went ahead. They beat us 11-6. Hunter pitched the last batter and was able to strike him out. We play the loser's of the Payson-Snowflake game on Monday. If we win that, we will play on Tuesday.
I'm sorry I don't have pictures this time, I forgot to take my digital and then forgot to buy a disposable. Leave it to me, course I'm constantly up and down in the stands, that all of the pictures would have been really blurry anyways. I will take the camera on Monday and hopefully get some awesome pictures!!! Let you all know how it goes then.

What do you all think?

You Are Aurora! (A.K.A. Sleeping Beauty.)

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

My Awesome Hubby

Just a little note to let Dave know how much I love and appreciate him! I am so gratetul I went to the Taylor young adult dance 21 years ago.(Wow) Dave has been such a blessing to me. He is such a good dad and husband, always so thoughful and loving to us. I am so honored to be his wife. I am grateful to him for being such a great priesthood holder and living the gospel. I love that we are an eternal family and will have each other for eternity! Thanks for putting up with my blondness, and having the patience it takes to live with me. Thanks for showing me how much you love me and making me feel beautiful everyday. Wishing a wonderful father's day! Love you tons and tons!!!XOXOXOXOXOXOX

My Awesome Girls Day Out with Sandi

I tried to post some pictures but they won't download so you can go to Sandi's blog and see some of the pictures we took. I had such an awesome time! When we started out, we came up on a head on collision. It killed at least one person and critically hurt several others. We were half way to Holbrook and they said it would be about 4 hrs. to clean it up. So we decided to go back through Snowflake and around to Holbrook. When we got to Flagstaff, we checked into our nice room at the Embassy Suites. On Tuesday we went to the spa for some much needed pampering!!!! We actually did the massages. I was pretty nervous to say the least, but the ma sues was reassuring and calmed me down a little. I relaxed enough to enjoy it. I have to say that the facial was my favorite part of the day. It felt so nice with all of the cleansers and lotions they used. My face has never felt so good!!! I had a pedicure for the first time also. It was really good too(I do feel that I give better ones though)!!!
We did tons of shopping, which was really awesome because we didn't have any kids with us and we could take all the time we wanted to. I got three new outfits and a couple pairs of shoes! I usually don't buy that much but we found some really good sales!
Just want to say a big thank you to my wonderful, thoughtful, awesome, hunky husband for giving me this outing. I love you with all my heart!!!! Also a big thank you to my best friend Sandi. I had the best time and was glad that I could share it with you! It was so fun to be crazy and non-mommy for a few days with you! You are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brian, thanks for taking the kids and letting Sandi go with me, I would never have done this without her.
We have decided that this will be a yearly outing for us, I think every mom should take time out for herself and just be crazy and have fun. I know I came back rejuvenated and ready to face the world.

My Dad!!!!

I want to pay a little tribute to my dad. I have the best dad in the world!! I have so many awesome memories growing up in my family. Dad took us on many camping trips, even though I wasn't the best camper, I loved being out with my parents. My dad took me fishing in a boat one time and baited the hook for me. I caught so many fish that he finally told me to just watch him because he was tired of baiting the hooks!! That was such a fun time for me.
We went many times to get fire wood. Dad was so patient with me because I am NOT a woodsy person, but he taught me how to work! I actually enjoyed most of those outings because we would have a picnic that mom prepared and we would get to talk about anything with him.
I know how much of an impact he and mom made in Lakeside. When people find out who I am they always have the most awesome stories of service they provided or the fun parties they had. I love listening to their memories and know that they truly loved my dad.
I am so honored to be your daughter!! Thank you dad for everything you have done and given to me. Thank you for being a righteous priesthood holder. I know when I was looking for a husband, I wanted him to have the qualities that you have. Thank you for teaching me the gospel, and going to all of the daddy-daughter dates with me!
I am so grateful Heavenly Father sent me to you. I hope you have an AWESOME father's day! Love you lots!!!

Just Updating

Not much has been going on in the Skousen household. Summer is doing so well in St. George. Making lots of friends and is trying to find a job. She was layed off of the flower shop. She is really missing her car, its in Flagstaff getting worked on. Our good deal on the Jetta has become a not so great deal, but once its fixed it will be a great car for her.
Dave is sending my best friend, Sandi, and I to Flagstaff next week for a much needed girl time! I can't wait, I am so flippin excited! He got us into a really nice hotel and set us up with a spa treatment, including a massage, which I am so nervous about. I have always wanted one, but when it comes right down to it, I don't know if I can have someone touch me like that without it being Dave. So we will see if I can go through with it when we get there. I LOVE MY MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just started walking with Sandi, we walked about 20 miles last week!! I'm so proud of myself. I actually really enjoy it, my toes don't though. My big toe on my right foot rubbed against my shoes and got a blister under the nail. It was so sore, until I was able to pop it. (Sorry that was gross) It feels better but it is about to fall off. I guess thats what I get for having bad shoes. Dave got on Eastbay.com and ordered me a pair of New Balance shoes. They should be here this week. I can't wait.
Hunter's baseball team has really done poorly for the last season and a half. They have only won one game up until last Friday. They were up against the number one team in the league. His coaches had two boys catch and pitch this game that have never played these positions in their lives! I was so worried, but they came out like they have been doing it for years! We ended up WINNING!! The score was 9-5. We are so proud of them.
Hunter and Skyler are going to a basketball camp at the school this Tuesday-Thursday. Skyler is now 1/2 inch taller than me! He is pretty proud of that accomplishment.
Clay is doing really well on his coach pitch baseball team. He got 2 homeruns last week!
Autumn is doing well also. She has been doing some babysitting for a friend of ours who has a 3 month old baby boy. He is so cute. Very easy to babysit, he hardly ever cries.
Dave is getting ready for a trip on June 16-21 to Missouri, it is for his job. He will be getting certified for dispatching. By having this certification he would be able to get a job anywhere, not that we are thinking of moving, it will just be a good thing to have. Then he is taking off on June 30-July 11 to Mexico to do a tour with Stan. They are taking a group of 37 people!!
Well I guess there is more going on then I thought. Hope it didn't bore any of you too much. Until next blog, enjoy the warm weather!!! I sure am.
