My bad luck!!

Last Friday I started seeing floaters in my right eye, by Sunday I couldn't see out of it at all! I called my eye doctor and he told me to come in first thing Monday morning. I thought it wasn't anything to worry about. Just go in, get a few drops and head off to Hunter's game in Flagstaff. WRONG- I have a detached retina. They hurried me off to Phoenix to Dr. Alam for surgery. I get there thanks to my sister-in-law, Becky, did a bunch of tests and they tell me that since it was completely detached and the macula, it didn't require emergency surgery. This prognosis is not really good. I will have surgery on Thursday, but having the vision I had before will probably not return as good. They will be putting in an oil bubble that will have to be there for about 8 weeks, I will have blurred vision for awhile, then go in for a second surgery to remove the bubble. Hopefully I will be able to see alot better than I do now. If any of you are nearsighted please look for the symptoms. Floaters, blobs that look like lava lamp bubbles, or any loss of vision in the eye. Get to a doctor immediately!!!!!! I am totally bumbed, but what do you do? I will be going to Cancun with blurred vision, but at least I'll have some sight.
On to happier news, Hunter's team beat Payson last night!! I kept in touch with my friend Denise and she said that Hunter was the closing pitcher and struck the boys out to win the game! He also got two really good hits that brought in 2 runs. They won 8-2. They play tonight at 7:30, I don't get to go to this game either, which really ticks me off! He doesn't have any family there to cheer him on, Dave left for Mexico yesterday and I can't drive. He does understand this, thank goodness. I am so grateful for the team parents that have taken him in. GO BLUERIDGE ALLSTARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sorry to see you down and marking time until surgery. That is really frustrating. This week of all weeks with so much going on. We'll keep you in our prayers and fast for your eyesight as well.
Glad Hunter got to participate and do so well in the All Stars. He's such an athlete!

Love Mom

dang it wendy!!! that was totally what i was thinking when you were telling us about it on sunday..my mom had a detached retina when i was young and i used to work for an eye doctor...so when you discribed it i was thinking detached retina...remember me saying..."thats NOT good" and you just brushed it off so i just left it alone...dont know at that point if it would have made a difference or not but i should have pushed the issue..im sorry! hope you heal quickly and if there is anything i can do let me know

So sorry to hear about your eye. Sounds like a scary thing to happen. Hope all will turn out well and you will be okay. And going to Cancun with blurred vision is better than not going to Cancun at all! I'm envious.
